Growing with babybay
Safe and Secure Bedside Cosleeping
The initial purpose of the babybay is to be used as a bedside cosleeper. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends room-sharing for the first 6 months with a separate sleep space for the baby. Our unique design makes babybay the perfect bedside option for parents looking to safely keep their little one in the same room. That’s where babybay comes in! The locking straps keep the babybay securely attached to the bedside. This sleeping arrangement can be especially helpful for a quick response to nighttime wakings and breastfeeding without the risks of keeping your baby in your bed. You can read more about the AAP safe sleep recommendations here.
Easy Access and Convenient Bassinnet
Even if you don’t need a bedside option, the bassinet conversion kit allows the babybay to be used in any room of the house. Adding the rolling casters allows the babybay bassinet to roll from room to room as needed. The space-saving design easily fits through doorways and easily finds a useful place in any room as needed. This can be especially handy for parents working at home or in smaller homes with multi-use spaces. The open design allows the babybay to be used as a changing space as well. Having multi-use items is important to keep your space simple and organized.
We have exciting news coming soon about another transition that will allow the babybay line to transform into a full-size crib. While we can’t give a specific date yet, this option will be available in the US in the near future!
As your little one becomes more independent the babybay easily transitions into a comfortable space for young children. Adjusting the sleep space to a low-level makes a lovely bench space for a toddler. Baskets of toys or books easily slide under the platform to make a self-contained area. The comfortable mattress and a few pillows or stuffed animals make for a comfortable snuggle space for looking at picture books or playing with toys. This could be a special corner in the nursery or as a small space in the living room where they can be comfortable and play independently.
Easy Entry Way
Making a small space for your children with their items organized within their reach can be a great way to promote independence. Hanging hooks for jackets, gloves, and shoes tucked underneath makes for a cute a functional entryway addition. This especially true if you’re working on a Montessori-ish style approach! Dr. Maria Montessori coined the term “prepared environment” to describe orderly, child-friendly spaces that encourage confidence and independence. Preparing a space for your child with the babybay as a bench makes for an inviting and useful space to allow them easily locate their items and to practice their decision-making for leaving the house in an easy and less stressful way.
Imaginative Play Space
Adjusting your babybay to a height of 14-18 inches can make an ideal play platform for imaginative play scenes. A draped play silk makes for a blue sky background for a nature scene, a grey mountain background for a scene of animals, or even roleplaying through one of their favorite stories. This can be an engaging space for your toddler to get acquainted with shapes, colors, textures at an easy-to-access height ready to catch your child’s attention at curiosity at eye-level.
This useful adaptation has become very important during COVID-19 and a large number of children being required to attend classes through distance learning. One of the best ways to support our children through this challenging situation is to provide them with their own dedicated space to engage with their learning. While the learning space could be as simple as the kitchen table, setting up the babybay as a dedicated desk for a child makes for a simple solution and gives a child a distraction-free area. Many desks and tables are made for adult proportions so the ability to adjust the height of your babybay to a comfortable and ergonomic level for your child can decrease strain on their arms, wrists, or posture from sitting at improper heights or working at the wrong surface level. Hanging artwork or other study materials on the sides makes for an organized and personalized space.
